I have Avast Free antivirus and got an activation code for the cleanup in the hope of it improving performance on my 3. 5 years old PC running Windows 8.1 However, each time I have tried to run the cleanup I get the above error message. Restarting the PC doesn't make any difference. I  still cannot run the program. Any suggestions please?

That link does not contain any help. It only links to the general Avast Support website, which contains no help for this Avast Cleanup problem. The four options to submit a problem to Avast in the link all refer to Avast Antivirus, not the Avast Cleanup. How to fix it then?
