Bitdefender Home Scanner - do I need an IoT scanner?
« on: May 30, 2017, 09:12:26 PM »
-https://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/smart-home-scanner.html
"a free tool that scans your Wi-Fi network, maps devices and identifies and highlights network security flaws"

I guess it's similar to Avast Home Network Security (Wi-Fi Inspector) and don't need to have both installed?

Thanks Avast.

I would say ask Bidefender what it does/what is scans etc and compare it with what avast is saying.

Now detected as Adware for 85%:

Bitdefender was found out before to have "somewhat sticky" privacy fingers towards end-users. Now again?
Oh, and Voodooshield blocked it, even while it was signed.

Thanks for that, Pol.

Besides, just as with running anything else, possibility of conflict is higher/increases if you run similar programs together.  If it ain't broke, you don't got to fix it.

You are welcome, mchain,

With having good tools to do the job, what more do you need, my forum friend?

And you are so right, it takes not much to get a system to go bunkers.

Contemplation whether the tool is worth installing, has led me to the following considerings ->

When unhack.me could be used against this possibly backdoored executable, something suspicious is being detected, no matter while the tool is genuine or a false positive. Consider: http://malwarefixit.com/trojan/win32-trojan-wisdomeyes-16070401-9500-9999-ycva-exe.htm
& http://security.raritysoft.com/malware/baidu/win32-trojan-wisdomeyes-16070401-9500-9999?show=10

More identifiers for that adware here: http://telussecuritylabs.com/threats/show/TSL20161011-22
