White page

When I open Avast free I get a white page.  Cannot scan. Used for quiet a few years.
IE Windows 7.  Also Icon does not show up on taskbar even though customized it to show

Since I have Windows 7 on this laptop I was able to restore and it worked.  It does not have Avast banking security (& with shield icon) but problem resolved so I am going to let it be.  Can always bank on my PC.  Thanks for reply.
