« on: April 05, 2006, 11:07:09 PM »
I keep losing the Avast icon in the system tray.
How can I get Avast to always keep the icon there?
Ben thanks

Do (or did) you have another Antivirus installed on this system, if so what (and how did you get rid of it) ?

What additional security based software do you have, e.g. AdAware, Spybot, winpatrol, prevX, etc. anything that would either monitor or block new start-up entries  ?

As a temporary measure you can create a desktop shortcut for C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe until we resolve the problem. That when you double click it will give you an icon.

No problem, it would be nice to know why it  disappeared in the first place or if you will lose it again.

Do you not have any other security software or another AV as I asked ?

As David is suggesting, there should be a reason why it was not there in the first place as the initial installation should have installed ashdisp.exe in startup. We would like to solve a problem (if there is one) that may occur again in the future or cause another problem.
