Virus found:

so and if I liked to shift this virus now into the quarantine, then the following error message comes:

http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/1861/040920061640510ky.jpg

I'm not yet sure what the Chest access error might mean, but I'm quite suprised by the last 2 images. How exactly did you scan the file? Downloaded it from web, or tried to execute it, or...?
Is this really a virus warning given by the resident protection?? Seems rather strange to me... (this file mask should be exluded).

Hi,

I cannot add files to the virus chest in the enhanced user interface. See screenshot. I don't know if this is a glitch or if I am doing something wrong. But if I go to the Simple User Interface I can add chest files.

Just wanted to say I just tried I think all possible test ways with EICAR. I have no problems with chest or other virus handling ways...

Hello everyone!    :)

I have just downloaded the new Beta without any problems. In the English version, I have not yet detected any problems as previously mentioned. Perhaps the avast team has already made corrections to some of the above mentioned bugs/glitches. The only thing I had to change was to let avast through ZA Free firewall again but that was expected.

Justin, you are right, though I'm not sure if it's new to the beta version. The menu item is disabled only when the "User files" folder is selected; if you e.g. right click to the right pane (so that the folder loses focus), the option is available.

It's on the second page ;)
Scanner (Basic), the first page of settings in Portuguese (Brazilian).
Igor, is there any difference between languages into the GUI ?

Edit: Oops that was on by default on mine (seeing the image with it off I assumed that was the default setting) so there has been an improvement on boot with this beta update.
No. As Vlk said before, the default would be 'on'.

I cannot add files to the virus chest in the enhanced user interface. See screenshot. I don't know if this is a glitch or if I am doing something wrong. But if I go to the Simple User Interface I can add chest files.
Me too, the same way Igor related: I can't use while "User files" folder is selected.

Actually you are right. There are two kinds of options about that:
Scanner(Basic)
Quote
Scan dynamic libraries on load. Dynamic-link libraries (DLL files) will be scanned as soon as an application tries to load them. It may slow down the application start a little, but provides additional security.
Scanner(Advanced)
Quote
Do not scan system libraries. Trusted system libraries will not be scanned on open, only a quick check will be performed to validate the authenticity. This option may speed up the system start a little.

I thought that you were talking for the second one  ::)

this message comes, if I accomplish a system CAN. And it me by manual system CAN does not announce that avast a virus found, these however into the quarantine to push can. I can delete these then only completely. To the upper pictures I cannot say, why this error is produced. He is and I simply there can thereby nothing begin. I think simply that the German version must completely again be revised. Only because those runs English very well, is called that not that the German version well runs.

I have this one. I think we need more info about the differences between one and another...

Is this the one Vlk was talking about before I suppose...

- WinXP+: the Standard Shield now implements a nice new feature, "do not scan system libraries" (by default on). This should dramatically decrease the number of files scanned during computer boot. For now, it only works with XP SP2 in the following language versions English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Polish, Czech. And the English version of Windows 2003 Server
Maybe this is what confused me.
In Portuguese translation there is the word XP+ at the first one and there is not on the second, which one Vlk explained.
I suppose that the first one (dll on load) should be checked and the second (system libraries) could be unchecked to accelerate boot.
Am I right?

Faith, the problem has certainly nothing to do with German Windows; there's no difference in Chest operations between various language versions of the OS, so the problem must be somewhere else.

Could you please write your last message in German? I'm afraid I don't understand what you are trying to say, and I would like to know how exactly you did the scan (I think I'll understand better in German). Thanks!

--------------

Guys, the two options you are talking about are closely connected. The one on the first page enables scanning of DLLs, the one on the second page makes avast! ignore some of them (in particular, the trusted - system - ones). So, the first one makes avast! scan more, perhaps slowing the system a little, the second one should, on contrary, make it faster (when checked).
