Also Having Problems with Resident Protection

Hello!

I am having the same problem as "guido87",   
Problems with the resident protection

Processor: AMD K6-2 380MHz
OS: Windows '98
Avast Edition: Avast Home 4.7
Antivirus Status/History: No Other Antivirus running. Previously un-installed McAfee.
Spyware Status: SuperAntiSpyware Installed
Firewall Status:  Safety.Net installed
Avast SetUp Log: Attached to post [100-150_lines_setup_log.txt]

Message when attempt to activate Resident Provider: The requested resident task was not found. The operation could not be completed.

I have attempted to install twice.  Had installed Avast successfully in the past.  Maybe the most recent build is having problems with Win98???  Presently not using 98SE.  Could not find disk after reinstalling Win98.

Please, post the last 100-150 files of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log
Can you post the full path where you're trying to install avast?

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Install again the last version.
6. Boot.
7. Check and post the results.

I see no error in your setup.log.
