very happy with avast so far - however, would like it to stop scanning certain programs, eg, vegas while i'm editing.

how do i chose which programs to exempt - or simply which module do i turn off while i'm editing?

You could add-it to the Exclusions list (Right Click Icon/Program Settings/Exclusions) and then add it to the Standard Shield Resident Protection Exclude list I pretty sure this will help?

You can exclude files from scanning, but not processes - so you can't tell avast! not to scan any files accessed/opened by Vegas, for example (well, if you have the project files in one folder, you can exclude the specific folder).
