Wondering about what a file extension does?
« on: April 10, 2006, 08:42:00 PM »
Hi malware fighters,

Analyzing a file. You're in the middle of combating a malware infection.
You read three different sources on the malware at hand.
You think you know what you are confronted with. Now
you are planning the strategy for taking it out. You encounter some file extension name, and you want a reminder on what it is used for, what it does.
Go here, my friends, http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=XPT

Enjoy,

polonus

I bookmarked it too, thanks a lot.  :)

Probably the most common "unusual" extensions are saved games and similar data specific to a particular application.  They're missing several I've got, but it sounds like they're quite happy to get additions to their lists.
