Did you do a Custom install or an update from the UI ?

From the UI it shouldn't install components that aren't present, unless it is a new component (depends on previous version), then it would get installed. Also if you just had it disabled, then it would get installed.

I updated from the UI. It was uninstalled, not just disabled. After the reboot, it was back.

This is in a snapshotted VM, so I could revert and try again. I did it 3 times. It is repeatable and consistent. Before update: not installed. After update: installed.

Sadly, i've gotten into the habit of checking all components and settings of Avast after an update, exactly because of these shenanigans..

Avast team/devs please confirm if behavior shield and program updates are taken into account when determining the security status.

I have consequent slow downs on Discord with this new version, just like the update of May.
I have exactly the same issues as here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=201754.msg1391653#msg1391653 except turning off protection doesn't work anymore, the slow down stays

Avast Free AV becomes disabled frequently, it doesn't take many minutes to be disabled after restarting avast service. Did clean reinstall and the issue remains. Uninstalled and ran avastclear after, downloaded latest installer for reinstall.

Windows 10 Pro version 1703 (Creators Update) x64
Intel Core i7 4770K
GeForce 780Ti
16GB RAM
Using Windows' firewall
No additional protection installed. Windows Defender fully disabled.

The shield behavior shuts off alone. This is normal?

Just installed latest iteration after doing a clean uninstall/clean install.  This is so no old features are carried over to the new version, making for far fewer bugs as a result.

They did say they re-worked the pop-ups.

Otherwise there are no issues except for the missing status monitoring and nor any explanation of whether avast ransomware protection is compatible with other programs such as RansomFree or CryptoPrevent, both of which are prior existing programs.

Attached is a pop-up for the AIS firewall.

All seems fine with my free edition for W7 Pro, except the UI front page shows an alert I can't close, saying to turn off my silent mode.  I do not want to turn it off, so why must I be told to every time I open the UI?

Cheers, Tony

My experience with this obnoxious BS (hey, it's not my fault here, you're the ones that have called it like this) feature: after Avast reinstall (2 editions ago, massive BSOD issues caused by the hardware-assisted virtualization feature) this crapola that hogs my hdd and completely takes over one core of my cpu gets disabled, after the daily reboot it reactivated itself so it got uninstalled; first program update it got reinstalled but remained deactivated so i uninstalled it again (btw the SB got installed too then despite me never installing it to begin with); now with this update it got reinstalled and activated, thrashing again my hdd and slowing my XP to a crawl. I should mention that program updates are set to manual and have always been done thru the GUI.

[Problem/Issue]
After the update to this version, my Avast Status is a Yellow exclamation mark inside a shield with the word "Attention". In Yellow letters the words "You are protected" can be seen on the main status page.
In the notifications area, no issue is reported.

1. I don't know why you have quoted part of one of my posts, so quoting this piece in isolation without the quotes i that post takes it out of context.  I have never replied directly to any post of yours in this topic, it was directed to user who I quoted.

2. I don't work for avast, I'm an avast user just like yourself, so directing your anger in my direction is misplaced.
