I've had the latest update. It took 2 days for the "New" to finally disappear. :) Patience.

What I found when I had the New icon over the Privacy tile, if I opened Privacy and clicked on the Data Shredder (the only component I had in there), it then flashed up the 'this is a paid option' or words to that effect. When I backed out of there to the Main UI again the New was no longer there.

Same here, shows "new" on the Protection which is also a pay for update feature (like sandbox, which should be free)

You already have someone mentioning virtualization stopped working, for me it was worst, the virtualization worked right away when starting the system and then it was disabled after some minutes (5-13 not sure), so I got BSDs when I had the virtual machines open at the start of the system with either virtualbox or vmware.

My system is ryzen 7 1800X, windows 10 64 bit fully updated.

This is not the first time I have had stability issues like this, so for now I'll stay away from avast and will probably buy something else. I thank you anyway for the great free product which I'll keep recommending to people that uses their pc for less things.

Now that the avast! premium version does have special Ransomware protection, is free version still offering protection thereto? If so, what was the reason of adding special Ransomware protection thing If signatures blocks this beforehand??

Behavior shield did not enable on boot up on my XP PRO SP3 machine today. That is 2 days in a row. Can manually turn it on and it seems to stay. Will see tomorrow and Monday if it does it again.

I've been working on this problem with Avast. Here's their latest reply to me on this matter:
"hi, we made some improvements in service starting (based on your etl log file), so the problem should be gone in 17.6"

As we don't even have a beta yet, nope.

Free version still offers same functions (including detection of Ransomware by signature) like previous versions. Now IS and Premier has additional one.

Ransomeware shield is considered to be the last layer of defense; when all other defense layers failed (File System Shield, CyberCapture, Behavior shield... all of these are offered for Free), Ransomeware shield kicks in and protect user's files from getting encrypted.

Avast 17.5.2302 blocks many https sites
« Reply #118 on: July 02, 2017, 07:52:46 AM »
Hi,
I have recently updated to Avast 17.5.2302. I can now not access many https sites (including Avast). I can usually get as far as logging in but then the site hangs.
This happens on 2 PCs, both Vista SP2 ( one is 32-bit, one is 64-bit) , and happens with Firefox 52.2.1, Chrome 49.0.2323.112 m and the latest Opera. I have had to disable Avast in order to make this post.
Any ideas please?

It should help to disable HTTPS scanning in the web shield.
