Same problem with "https connexion" using Chrome or Firefox on VISTA OS since yesterday.
Solved by un-checking the scan HTTPS sites in the Web Shield settings but is it a good choice ?

I have only experienced this once on my XP system, what I tried was to disable https scanning, refresh the page and turn https scanning back on. Normal scanning and loading continued even after https scanning was resumed.

Did you close and open the browser for the changes to take affect after re-enabling?

No and I also didn't stop and start the web shield.

The https scanning would have not been active then until you restarted the browser so although you selected the option, the changes did not take affect.

What would be interesting is if you try the same scenario, restart the browser once enabling the https scanning and then see the results.

Well I can only tell you of my personal experience and the fact that it worked.

What would be interesting is if you try the same scenario, restart the browser once enabling the https scanning and then see the results.

As I said I have only experienced it once, so I tried something different to what others had been told as a work around as I certainly wouldn't want https scanning being off for a long term option.

Your 6/26/2017 update (Free Edition) no longer automatically runs a scheduled Quick Scan.  Is this a known issue for 17.5.2302?  Will/Can it be corrected?  The previous version required same-day scheduling, but then at least I knew, time set for the day, it would run automatically, and that I could move on to other chores.  I also noticed that your popup messages are inaccurate; the main one, which appears at the exact same time I've scheduled the QS to run, notifies me that the Quick Scan has completed its procedures and that no issues have been found.  However, clicking the Details button reveals no details, but instead apparently launches the QS for its first run of the day, as confirmed by Scan History info.  Of course, no telling if any Avast interactive tools really work, but at least my laptop is receiving sufficient security protection (so far, that is) -- and for free!  Security protection is, after all, my main objective in using AVAST -- but I'm nonetheless hoping for a significantly (shall I say Vastly?) improved user interface.  It's way too crazy as is, way too weird.  !

Thanks.

I'm on Windows 10, Compaq Presario CQ50-210US

The latest version of Avast makes loading outlook.com (hotmail) on my laptop impossible, it blocks at   auth.gfx;ms - with gmail it also goes incredibly slow and the gmail says there is something wrong with google.
When is reset my system to a prior date - everything runs smoothly.
When i reinstalled the latest version of Avast- same  problem again
So it is clearly an avast issue
Can anyone help me out ?

Try the following:
Settings, Components, Webshield (Customize), Uncheck "Enable HTTPS scanning" then click on OK to save the change.

Hi

Have installed the new version.
Seems to run without causing problems so far.

Just tested Eventlog for error messages in Windows 7 Home premium after installation and noticed the following.

a. ) Clean event log, Shut down PC with Avast running
--> No error messages or warnings in event log after start.

b.) Bring PC in sleep modus (S3) when Avast running, then bring PC back in normal modus, ( no errors or warnings in Event log) then shut down PC.
--> After start I noticed Dcom system error message 10010  in the event log .
Der Server "{995C996E-D918-4A8C-A302-45719A6F4EA7}" konnte innerhalb des angegebenen Zeitabschnitts mit DCOM nicht registriert werden.
c. ) Same scenario as b.) but before shutdown "deactivate Avast until next start".
After start no Dcom error.! Clean Event log. No errors or warnings.!

This event error is generated reproducabely in the scenario b.) on my system, but is not a problem.
if you see this error on your system and would like to prevent it either avoid S3 or just deactivate Avast  before shutting down.

Regards

There are topics in the forums that relate to people using Windows XP & Vista having connection problems. If you are using either of these OSes try un-checking the scan HTTPS sites in the Web Shield settings.  You may be able to stop the scanning of https, reload the page and enable https scanning again.

Is there any good reason to update if I have Vista then?

Thanks

There is always a good reason to update your security products if your system allows it, I still have XP Pro SP3, win7 Home 32bit and win10 Home 64bit, all of which have the latest avast version installed.

As I mentioned I haven't been unduly effected by this issue so it doesn't seem to happen across the all XP and Vista systems.
