Is update slowing my broadband?
« on: June 28, 2017, 01:41:26 AM »
Hi installed the new update at 10.50pm (UKtime) and since then to now (12.30am) my speed has been like a snail. coincidence? i have no idea.

Could it be avast?

has this happened to anyone else? Just checked speed at Fast.com and i'm at 880kbps!

Thanks for any help

edit: my ipod speed is 9 Mbps

Update: 1.4Mb now (PC not ipod)

Checked speed on my laptop and it's 11 Mbps

and on PC it's 2.8 Mbps. So it must be this new update. i've scanned with MalwareBytes and Microsoft scan, nothing found

I just updated Avast as well... and what I am noticing?

I'm using Firefox. Every webpage I attempt to load got an almost "infinite load". At the moment, I can't even load a soundcloud page.
So I tryed to desactivate the "avast agents" and... everything is working perfectly.

It's not the first time avast is slowing down Firefox in such a way... so what I am expected to do? Is Avast planning a response to this Firefox problem?

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204
If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

The repair completed but didn't fix problem.

Completed the uninstall and tried to reinstall. during install avast told me there was an error during the install and wanted to restart computer. restarted, avast wasn't installed.

Switched off my COMODO firewall to see if there was a conflict and tried installing again. same problem happened.

Looked in the log and found this error multiple times. this is the bottom of the log

CrazyMonkey,

You never mentioned your operating system?

If it's either Windows Vista or Windows XP, I see a potential bug with the HTTPs scanning.

Looks like a common 'theme' is Vista?
Perhaps now that there are 2 threads going 'Avast central' will kick in.
