Why Did Avast Update
« on: June 30, 2017, 05:56:28 AM »
Can i please be told why this software chose to ignore my instruction to only update the program manually? I wake up this morning to find it has updated to the latrest version. I DID NOT WANT THIS WHICH IS WHY I SPECIFICALLY GOT THE OLDER VERSION AND I SAID DO NOT UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE MANUALLY. Is this just garbage that does whatever it wants? Why do the devs even bother having that setting in at all if it just does whatever it wants?

Old versions are not supported anymore, that is why the update took place very likely.
Next to that, avast can and is allowed to install updates overwriting the users settings if they feel it is need.

@  gregory.strydom079

What you don't say is the avast version that you did have installed ?

I have my three systems (XP, Win7 & Win10) set to manual program update and they haven't automatically updated the program. I have done a manual program update on the XP and Win10 systems, the Win7 system is still on avast 17.4.2294. This is still a relatively recent program and now doubt this has played a part in why it hasn't had a forced program update. But if I had a very old avast version, one which is no longer supported then my guess that could well result in a forced program update.
