UI failed to load
« on: July 08, 2017, 12:35:08 PM »
Hi
I'm on windows 10 an have Avast premier.
Yesterday I noticed that I'm not protected, no idea why, so I clicked on the Avast icon only to have a grey/blue screen appear saying 'UI failed to load. This is really embarrassing. AV service is not responding'. Below that there are two boxes one says 'Exit' the other says 'Restart service'. I clicked on restart service and a box popped up asking if I wanted to allow this app to make changes to my device yes/no. I clicked on yes only for the 'UI failed to load page to come up again.
I haven't made any changes and have not seen this before.
Should I uninstall my Avast and re-install it?
I'd grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction in rectifying my problem bearing in mind I am not computer literate so any replies need to be in layman terms.
Many thanks.

I am no expert, but I will try to help out.  I have the same system and the error you mention occurs occasionally.  Reboot your system and then wait for the error to appear.  Now just leave your system alone and it will fix itself.  It could be some timing issue, in my case I was too impatient and just started clicking the buttons.  But time after time I just leave it for no more than 5 minutes and it fixes itself and Avast runs perfectly afterwards.

But there was a time I had one go beyond 15 minutes and that was not good so I followed the uninstall/install procedure and same thing occurred, but it fixed itself after a minute or two.  Make sure to use the Avast Removal Tool located here in the forums

So try those two ways and see if that helps out.

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204
If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:
