question about boot-time scan
« on: June 30, 2017, 08:04:01 PM »
been using boot-time scans and every time i put avast on a new computer and try to update the boot-time definitions it can take up to 10 min - 2 hours and checking every few min to click off it and back on to see if it finishes cause its been know to not tell you when its done. very frustrating. any way to rush this update like a file i can download or something?

TBH, you are better off using the Avast Rescue Disk Feature if you want to ensure a new computer is clean before you use it.

-Resident active protection will protect your system(s) from malware at the instant/moment a file or process is run on your systems.
-Simple file scanning will not protect in this way.  It can't.

I'd recommend creating a Rescue Disk USB to use.  When the Rescue Disk is created, the latest definitions are downloaded and installed onto the rescue usb.
