Windows 10 Issues
« on: June 30, 2017, 06:44:19 PM »
I work in a computer shop and recommend at least the free avast to everyone so see it running on a lot of computers.

Over the last month I can report a number incidents with free avast lastest update failing, and causing internet issues until
it's removes with avast clear in safe mode and reinstalled.  Repair didn't help.

In fact on this latest computer AVAST was installed but would not start on boot, it would run if you clicked on it but still no internet,
next one I see like this I will try to disable webshield to see if it's connected to that.

No browsers can get to a webpage but everthing seems to be ok I can ping websites by ip or name and but not other troubleshooting would fix
except cleaning and reinstalling avast.

Its a great product I really miss the one component I would pay for and that's the remote support tool!
I also noticed the new cryptoware blocking component, if this truly works avast should include that in the free version at least to show it's effectiveness.

Thanks

I think one should do a clean install each time avast does an upgrade.

@gofix,
You didn't mention the OS. If this is Vista and/or XP try disabling the following:

The strange thing is that other AV vendors manage to release program updates with no problems at all, so why is this so difficult for avast? .... And has been for a looooong time    ???

I agree with mchain.
For several years there are problems after people update avast.
A clean install almost never has those problems.

As for the updates failing, please see my posts here > https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=204909.msg1405594#msg1405594
