"UI Failed to load"
« on: July 08, 2017, 03:30:42 AM »
I recently updated my free Avast but since then, videos on you tube, facebook, etc don't play, so I reset my computer to a few days before I updated my avast. Now I'm getting 'UI Failed To Load" I'm using Vista.

Perform a repair of avast.
If that doesn't solve it, perform a clean installation.

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

Seriously this is getting annoying avast... what happened to your flawless software auto-updating abilities. This is the 3rd time this year when your auto-updates fails to update properly.

Beginning to have flashbacks of why I left AVG in the first place for Avast.

AVG = avast
https://blog.avast.com/avast-and-avg-become-one

I knew about the acquisition but seriously did they fire like everyone from the Avast team and replace them from AVG?

Cause usually a company that buys out another company, the company who gets bought out usually adopts the practices and direction of their new parent company... not vice versa.

Eh avast bought AVG so why would they replace their own people with people from AVG ?

Well thats what I am saying. Why does Avast feel like AVG all a sudden, when Avast was the one who bought out AVG. Why is AVG not turning into more like Avast, but rather Avast turning into AVG?

It just feels that way, support tickets taking longer, bug hanging around longer, support forum, getting somewhat like the very old A V G one, many questions not many answers. For me a feeling of frustration at the lack of input from the Avast Team on various bugs. The regular users trying to help aren't informed either so there really isn't much we can suggest over and above the ususl

It almost feels like the UK TV program, The IT Crowd - http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-it-crowd - and their usual repost, have you tried switching it off and on again !

So I uninstalled Avast. Question is, is it worth re-installing? I'm only just now hearing of how bad it's become. That last update caused all video I tried to play (You tube, Facebook, etc) to not play or it would play with lots of freezing.

For several years it is known that avast updates quiet often are causing problems, that is why we always recommend a clean installation.

I wouldn't say it happens quite often. It may on occasion happen and when it does, these are the suggested measures to correct the problem:

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

I've been having exactly this problem for the past week and a half or so, it was just luck that I discovered a thread from another Vista user (my main OS) which mentioned Avast, it's been driving me utterly crazy. But I think you should be aware that this may be a wider issue with Vista users:
