Avast SafeZone browser crashed
« on: July 17, 2017, 11:49:12 AM »
My SafeZone browser (on PC with Windows 10) crashed a few days ago while I was deleting some shortcuts that appeared to be doubled up. I no longer have access to Bank Mode or the Avast login icon or panel. All have disappeared. I'm about to uninstall the browser, as it's now unusable for its intended purposes: no Bank Mode and no password manager.

Repair Avast:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Avast
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Thanks. I did that, but it made no difference. I can access my passwords via the Chrome extension, but I can't use them in the Avast browser. Back to Chrome and Firefox, at least for the time being.

If I uninstall the browser, will I be able to reinstall it from somewhere?

When part of a product fails, it makes one lose faith in the rest of the product, i.e. Avast Premier.

Actually, it seems that Bank Mode is present after all, as I was just asked in Chrome if I wanted to switch to Bank Mode (in SafeZone). I did that and the Bank Mode / Switch Back options now appear, but the credit card and password manager icons have vanished. Just wondering if there's a setting that I need to change.

OK, thanks. I'll wait a couple of weeks and if nothing happens, I'll submit a ticket.

Up and running again.

In the Avast console, I deselected the SafeZone browser and it uninstalled. When that completed, an Avast (whole product) upgrade arrived and installed. I then reselected the SafeZone browser and it installed correctly.

Thanks to Avast and thanks for your assistance, Asyn.
