Adwcleaner
« on: July 18, 2017, 05:27:47 PM »
Rewritten and portable.
We discuss it in Prague last January. @Igor: this is what we expect of cleaning.
I know we, Avast users, we'll see just some PUPs after all, but in an infected computer, it's quite efficient.

I can't even get AdwCleaner 7.0.0.0 to come up.  I just get a message that says, "Not a valid Win32 app."  Who knows.  Maybe it has a problem with Windows XP.

Anyway, just thinking out loud.  Don't expect anyone here to have the fix.

Oooo - kay.  Then that's that.  Not surprising.

I guess I'll use AdwCleaner 6.047 until the wheels fall off even if that turns out to be next week or next month.

With AdwCleaner 7.0.0.0 now having cut the cord on Windows XP, no doubt MB3's days of supporting Windows XP are numbered.

Thanks for the info, Pondus.

That's not what is stated here:
you should check the source Bob  >>  https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/204703-release-adwcleaner-7000/

Last but not least, Microsoft announced that Windows Vista is no longer supported. Since January 2017, Windows XP has represented 0.12 percent of our users. Windows Vista 1.51 percent. Thus, the choice has been made to no longer make AdwCleaner v7 compatible with these OS. AdwCleaner v7 now officially supports Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 10 CU in both x32 and x64. As for the v6, it may work on other OSes but are not officially supported.

Malwarebytes / AdwCleaner website is said to be updated tomorrow
