Questions and doubts
« Reply #90 on: August 07, 2017, 08:00:05 PM »
Hello, I have Avast Internet Security, installed on 2 computers. Lately, the plugin that is installed in Firefox and Chrome browser, to avoid advertisements and tracking, has been disabled by this browsers. I do the configuration constantly, but always disable when entering the sites. I would like to know why, because this was not the case before.
Thank you.

Try the following: Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

I prefer the older version before this update can I uninstall this new version & reinstall the older version?

I also have problem for this new edition.
Where is the old edition to install?

Does anyone know?
Is there any stand alone installer of old Avast edition?

Such as Avast 2016 or 2015 year edition or (2017 before HTTPS Web shield problem, 17.5.2302=Problem Avast Version)

I found stand alone installer of AVG antivirus. But, not Avast yet.

Well it didn't fix the HTTPS Scanning Problem that is affecting XP and Vista users.  :(
All it did was put my Vista laptop right through the mill  >:(
My CPU was stuck at 100% for about 10 minutes. And I really didn't think the update was ever going to finish.
Still got to update my sons Windows 7 desktop yet. Not looking forward to it!
one question how do i know is it working & is it working properly? cause its automatic thing what it should do awry time i visit a site, i do not know about this stuff, if there is something that isn't working or isn't working properly & avast doesn't notify me i don't know & my PC will get infested by bad stuff without me knowing (i bet there is no notification if something is just broken & its turned on), Avast need to think about ppl who are less smarter about Antiviruses & bad stuff
It has been fixed on 25th July via micro-update.

by micro update u mean virus database update that happens automatically silently meany times a day, i ask cause i haven't gotten any update only virus database automatic silent updates

i really hope it did fix it, i just brows internet so i even don't know did i had issue with it or not, not that smart that i can just notice it if like i said in previous post don't get any notification & why i said i hope it was fixed one time i had small glitch with avast & then also ppl said it was fixed, but it wasn't for me

Check your build#, if you have 17.5.3585.192 or higher you're good to go.

Thank You very much.

1)However, how/where did you get official intormation of micro update?

2)Where is the source (Official) Website of this micro update and related information you described?

3)Are you checking the inside of micro update all the time? w

Your questions make no sense. The information came from Avast and as long as you've verified that your build matches the information,
the problem should be fixed. If you haven't updated. do so to correct the problem.

Thank you.
I already updated for VISTA. I only can know the program edition etc.
Avast Version:17.5.2303
Build:17.5.3585.192

1)However, my question is how to know Avast release the micro-update which contains certain fix.

I would like to know how to find the information?

Is there any release note (homepage) of Avast?
Is there any spacial Homepage/Website to release fixed software?

2)I just wonder,is micro-update silently released without any official notice?

I can not find in FAQ.

Avast Antivirus: New Features
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB89

It may happen in future again. It was happened in past.
In addition, I may need to wait for the fix for other Windows 10 PC.

For exapmle, I found following anoucement of Avast team.

Avast 17.4.2294 Blocking Websites
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=201782.0
===
Hello everyone,

We were able to identify and fix the internet connectivity issue that occurred after the latest Avast 17.4 update.

The fix is being distributed via a micro-update to Avast Web Shield.

To download the fix, please follow these steps:
  • Turn OFF Avast Web Shield (internet connectivity will start working)
      - In UI go to Protection > Antivirus and turn Web Shield OFF or
      - Right-click the Avast tray icon > Avast shields control > Disable permanently (to turn OFF all shields)
  • Go to your Avast installation folder - usually "C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast"
  • Run (double-click) AvEmUpdate.exe and confirm the UAC prompt
  • Avast will now silently apply the fix
  • Wait for about 5 minutes
  • Restart your computer
  • Turn Web Shield (or all shields) back ON
  • You are now again connected to the internet and protected
Thank you for your patience and your help in resolving this issue.

Sincere apologies,
Avast team

But I can not found from following page.

Release history with notes

The information in the Version update history is very limited at best.
Micro updates address specific problems and aren't listed there.
Avast will have to tell you if detailed information on updates is made available to the general public.
I personally am interested in seeing the problems fixed. How it's done and the details in the fix aren't important to me.
Just fix it. :)

18/07/2017 or 7/18/2017 bruce_b is correct and so is Avast.

Ok, thanks for the clarification.

I first thought that the mistake was in the month (July).

By the way ... still waiting for an update of the stable release ...
