Wow 8)

Didn't see that one comming.
<snip>

Nor did I Piriform seems to have been around for ages and I have been using it for a very long time.  This was one of the reasons I never installed the avast Browser cleanup or Performance cleanup (a paid option).
According to the announcement, the Avast performance tool will still remain and so will the browser cleanup.

I hope it does not make CCleaner only paid or that it only includes AVs.

I bet the underlying code/processing changes, like some other acquisitions of recent times (A V G for instance), hopefully for the better in the long term.

So we can say bye-bye CCleaner? I expect CCleaner become plagued by Ads to buy Avast or even worse CCleaner become paid function of Avast Premier.

Have you actually read what was in the Blog article, it certainly isn't what I read.

Moreover, both CCleaner and Avast are known for their innovative and lightweight products. Piriform’s technology and products are extremely robust. We will maintain the Piriform products separately from our current Avast optimization portfolio, and Piriform customers can rest assured they will continue to get the attention and service they are used to. Our existing performance optimization products, Avast Cleanup and AVG TuneUp, will remain available.

Well the best best easy and light weight computer cleaner and optimization is CCleaner even better than AVG Tune Up its very easy and user friendly. Thus, purchasing it won't be a problem with you even with ads.

This isn't good news.

I'll start archiving old CCleaner, Recuva, Speccy and Defragger installers/versions now.

If AVAST **** ** some of the best free to use tools available I'll be very angry.

I would never use CCleaner, Recuva or Defraggler (sp) but I do use Speccy.

I don't like this one bit. If Piriform's programs become a platform to distribute Avast ads, I will discontinue use.
I couldn't agree more.

Just downloaded all the portable and current/favourite versions of their programs I use.

BTW if you want the portable versions from Piriform look for the "builds page" link at the bottom of each program's main download page.

That, I'm sure, is what all of us hope. Starting off with a negative perspective just isn't my way.
If I see unwanted changes, that's when I'll start complaining. Till then, I'll remain optimistic. :)

Do you know if it makes a practical difference if the 32-bit portable program or the 64-bit portable program is used on a 64 bit system? (Since both are compatible.)
