hi

the two most busy processes are ashserv.exe and aolservicehost.exe
during this working period of time, there is no task under the Application tab
hdd's seem to be scanned the one after the other and the computer led blinks
This looks very strange to me!
 ???
 ???
 ???

thank you to all of you guys

finally, I found what it was by checking cpu in windows task manager
After checking my AOL services, I could see that aolservicehost.exe is an antispyware soft, and was programmed to start scanning every day at 2:00 pm!!
I also could see this activity in avast standard shield. So, nothing wrong, I just changed the time!!

thanks again  :D  :D

Hi gringojack,

Here's the English version of what to look for. Notice the black arrow beside the column of zeros [ 00 ]. Scroll down until you see what program has the highest number in this column. Tell us the program (.exe) and the number. You can also tell us what the numbers are for any ash*.exe in the far left column.

Hi Charley, you can click the column heading to sort the list alphabetically, see image with all avast services at the top.

Your welcome, I just knew there was something else scanning, it was just finding it ;D

Whilst I'm not sure what aolservicehost.exe scans for or if there might be any possible conflict if it does open a file for scanning that avast recognises as malware/spyware. Then the two could conflict whilst trying to deal with the same problem file.

Hey

it is something like ad-aware, and does about the same thing! It comes with the AOL package! :D

If you have adaware and spybot S&D or other anti-spyware programs then it may be redundant. You could remove it and save resources.

Thanks, David ... I meant to sort that alphabetically before taking the shot but forgot.    :-[   I was in kind of a hurry then.  :P

Gringojack ... it is good to know that your problem is solved!    :D
