Fix Problems User Text Correction Needed for Services
« Reply #1 on: July 26, 2017, 08:20:31 AM »
Cosmetic Bug:

Fix Problems shows a problem as follows:

Services may not have time to close before shutdown
Increase shutdown to 5 seconds to give them time to close.

When selecting FIX for the problem above the result reads:
Shutdown time has been changed to 15 seconds

If 5 seconds is the amount to increase, then the Fix should read 5 seconds, not 15 seconds.
If the increase is adding 5 seconds, the first item above should changed the word "to" to read "by".

Maintenance Functions Not Hyperlinked or Check boxed
« Reply #2 on: July 26, 2017, 08:24:37 AM »
In addition to listing broken registry entries, these entries could easily be hyperlinked to regedit such that the user may select an entry and have the option to see the actual entry in the registry. This issue is also relevant to other features in the beta.

These items in the list have no check boxes for exclusion from the maintenance operation. It seems to be all or nothing. This issue pervades many other of the features in the beta.

Speedup Function Needs Explanation
« Reply #3 on: July 26, 2017, 08:44:39 AM »
The Speedup Function suggests that background and startup apps can be put to "sleep". What exactly does this mean? How is the app made to sleep? Some of these apps are designed to await system events. Does this "sleep" prevent this normal action?

Free Up Space And System Restore Points
« Reply #4 on: July 26, 2017, 08:48:03 AM »
As noted in earlier post, there is a need for checkboxes to eliminate some items found from the various functions in this beta. For example, in the Free Up Space function system restore points are listed as candidates for deletion. There is no means of selecting restore points to exclude. There should be a limit that prevent the most recent restore point from being deleted.

Startup Option Missing

In the settings for the beta should appear an option to turn off Avast Cleanup from starting automatically when Windows starts up.

There should also be a scheduling option.

Hello,

thanks for the report!

It seems that there is an inconsistency in the code because there are two thresholds for different operating systems. 15 seconds is used for Windows 7 and lower OS or 5secs for Windows 8 and higher.
Anyway we will look at it and fix the inconsistency so it is correctly displayed based on the OS.

Hi,

first part is an interesting suggestion and we will definitely consider it in the future version of Avast Cleanup. It might be handy for the advanced users to open and check the items directly from the result screens.

Second part of your feedback is also relevant because right now it is really all or nothing and we understand that it might not be convenient for some users to delete either all or nothing from the registry items. We will try to add this functionality in the future releases.

Thanks for your feedback!

Hello,

It basically disables the background and startup processes and services which are related to a particular app. When you start the app then it automatically re-enable the processes and services so you can use the app as usual and when you close it afterwards they are put back to "sleep" again. Thus you will save some PC resources when you don't work with the app at the moment and they are consumed only if you really work with the app (it is started).

Best regards!

Hi,

well overall the product is right now designed to be simple to use and it sometimes leads to the lack of possibilities you may have when you would like to choose which items you would like to delete and which not. We will probably make it more detailed in the future but right now you can select just the first level of details within the particular categories displayed in System Junk or any other cleaning feature.
With regards to the limit actually there is a limit. We do not offer the most recent restore point within the results so it is prevented from being deleted. See the attached screenshots for more details.

Thank you!

Hi,

Thanks for pointing out the option to turn off the Cleanup during Windows start. We will definitely do that so users can disable it and run the application just when they want to.

Regarding the scheduling option we are working on that and it shall be included in the future versions.

Best regards!
