I have a very weird problem where I cannot identify root cause.
I bought Dell with pre-installed McAfee AV. I reset the operating system fully and first thing I do once the reset is completed, I uninstall McAfee. Next step I do is install Avast. Then I install Chrome and it becomes very slow - starts not bad but after few websites it takes ages to open in any browser - Chrome or Edge - all the same (circle keeps turning and turning and turning..).
We have another laptop (Asus) which works with the same Wi-Fi and also on Avast without any problems - same Windows 10.
So I say - problem must be with my WiFi hardware or software - I take laptop to shop, connect to their WiFi and.... everything is ok. Browser opens swiftly. What on Earth ?!
SAME ROUTER - SAME AVAST - SAME OPERATING SYSTEM - ASUS - all ok
SAME ROUTER - SAME AVAST - SAME OPERATING SYSTEM - DELL - slow
SAME LAPTOP - SAME SETTINGS - DIFFERENT WIFI - all ok
I am 100% sure problem is with Avast because if I leave McAfee or remove and install Kaspersky then there is no huge slowdown. But this problem weirdly affects only my Wifi, not the one in shop. I will start taking this laptop to friends when visiting and see what happens but maybe anyone already suspects the root cause ? Any other preinstalled software which Dells have in-built and which is causing Avast to slow websites ? But why only at my home Wifi ?
