Just upgraded my copy of Avast from 4.6.763 to 4.7.817. I usually don't upgrade right away until I see that no one is having any problems with the new version. But since the past 3 upgrades there were no problems, when I booted up my PC and saw the 'green pop-up' window announcing a newer version of avast, I allowed it to download and install. Took maybe 7 or 8 minutes (on DSL lite). Everything seemed to go fine. It said it needed to reboot my PC so I let it reboot.
When it came up, I told Zone Alarm Pro to allow the new modules access and avast checked for more updates. After that, I saw a 'red disabled'
symbol over avast's icon on my system tray. Opening avast, I saw no modules enabled. I couldn't enable anything! I tried a manual scan of files and that started fine. Not panicking, I remembered that sometimes new installations
need a second reboot. I rebooted again and all is well now.
Just thought I'd share that in case anyone else has a similar problem.
