Mystery,

Win32:Naith (also known as Avril, Lirva)
is an Internet worm that copies itself into the Windows system folder under a random name and sets following registry entry to execute itself automatically when Windows starts up.
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ RunAvril Lavigne - Muse

Win32:Naith spreads by sending itself to email addresses gathered from the DBX, MBX, WAB, HTML, EML, HTM, TBB, SHTML, NCH and IDX files.

Avast should have given you the option to Delete, Restore, or Move to chest.

What did you do when the alarm was received?

The Avast Virus Cleaner (free download)will not remove this worm.
I will be back later with the link to a removal tool. Ok?

Mistery,

Not at all.  Delete is fine.  Rerun Avast to see if any other virus shows up.
What I want you to do is set Avast to Thorough scan, and set it to check archives.
You do this by clicking on the icon to select a drive to scan once the user interface (Avast screen) is loaded.

You will also see a "box" you can check which refers to scanning archives.

Try this and let me know if you have a problem.

mystery,

I would download the free Avast Virus Cleaner for general purpose removal:
www.avast.com....Downloads/Programs

You can get specific removal tools at any of these sites for the virus infection:
www.symantec.com
www.avp.ch/avpve
www.cai.com
www.mcafee.com

Good luck
You can always come back here for help!
Welcome to the forum

No need to apologize, misteryns.  Some days my English isn't all that good -- and it's my native tongue.   ;D

Everyone seems to have understood what you meant, which is the important thing after all.

Best,
Mike

Actually I was born and raised (bred and buttered, as they say) in New York City.  But whether what's spoken there is English (or even a cousin) is still hotly debated  ;D
