This is showing up in the system tray. I can't close it without killing Cleanup via Task Mgr.

this seems like a problem with Cleanup tray message. Are you able to induce it repeatedly or was it just one occurrence?
Also we would really appreciated if you could collect the log files from c:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Tuneup\log\ and upload it somewhere (as a zip archive or some other package).

You can either upload it on some public file sharing web service or you can use our FTP server: \\ftp.avast.com\ftp\incoming\ (connect as anonymous user).
