Turning off the scanning windows in Avast screen saver
« on: April 23, 2006, 03:19:28 PM »
Hi;

I'm new to Avast home edition, switching from AFG free edition.

I really like the screen saver scanning option, it's really cool!  ;D

One problem though, the scanning window doesn't show up on top of my screen saver, it is there because I can briefly see it when the screen saver shuts down, its just behind the screen saver instead of on top of it.

The screen saver I use is The One Ring.

So I have two questions:
  • Is there a way to fix it so the scanning window will show?
  • If that's not possible, is there a way to turn off displaying the scanning window completely?

I'm afraid the answer is no for both questions :-\

Oh well..... it was just a thought....

Would have been nice if the scanning window did display on top of the screen saver....

Thanks anyway! ;D

For some screensavers, it does. However, for some (e.g. those that are DirectX or OpenGL based) it does not, and there's really no way to do that (or more precisely, no way we're aware of).

Thanks

For some screensavers, it does.
Please, give us examples Vlk...
I'd like to see more configurable features at the screen saver module (but I've posted elsewhere, a lot of times...  :'().

It should work for ordinary "Windows" screensavers (i.e. those who use common Windows API to draw their stuff). It doesn't work for 3D screensavers (that use DirectX or OpenGL for drawing).

Igor, I made a bad question.
I want to know if in any screensaver the scanning window will be displayed at the top of the monitor, static there...
Sorry, I think my wish was greater than my quote  :-[

No, the window always moves, as far as I know.
