Microsoft turns off avast VPN
« on: August 21, 2017, 03:36:19 AM »
On a regular basis a small window appears and states that Avast Service has been stopped, and sure enough, my VPN has been disconnected. I seem to have read somewhere that this is an Avast glitch and that steps were being taken to upgrade. I operate Windows Vista Ultimate. Anybody have a similar occurrence?

Yesterday I purchased Avast VPN as an update.  However there seems to be a glitch on
my system as well.  Every couple of minutes VPN disconnects itself then, automatically, reconnects.

It also seems to interfere with my connections - for example to gain access to this forum I had to
turn VPN off.  This happens on many other sites as well.  I'm beginning to think that this product
is still very much an early Beta as it seems full of bugs.

I'm running an HP Pavilion HPE h8-1375ea Desktop PC with twin SSDs and Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

What do I think of it so far?   :(

Morning after my original post I could not get onto any of my regular forums
unless I turned the VPN off.

I have submitted a ticket and advised Avast I wish to cancel my subscription.

May be my set up - but it does not seem to want to work for me.  It would
have been nice to have, but if it doesn't work 'out of the box' it is no good
to me!

Amy, your problem has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.
Start your own in the correct forum and provide details.

Further to the above, and after reading many complaints from people whose
concerns and refunds do not appear to have been addressed;

Two days ago I advised Avast Support of my problems and raised a ticket
requesting cancellation of my subscription for SLVPN and a refund.

This morning I had an email from Avast saying my request had been
actioned and a second email, from PayPal, saying the refund had been
received and credited to my account.

Going through the correct channels worked for me.

Top service!

I am still using and will continue to use my old faithful Avast AV and Cleanup.

Qu to Ken Lines

You say  "Going through the correct channels worked for me"

Well, then, would you please tell us all what these "correct channels" actually are,
and provide the web address, e-mail address, phone number for these hard to find "correct channels"?

Thanks!
