lost sound and battery icons

after installing 4.7 I lost sound and battery icons in system tray.  reinstalled as per microsoft directons, but after shutdown and restart they do not appear. how do i keep them in my system tray.

If it's WinXP, do you have the auto-hide feature activated? Maybe they're just hidden by the OS, that's quite normal (that's what the small left-arrow icon is there...)
