Are there schools for virus writers?
« on: April 23, 2006, 08:33:53 PM »
Hello malware fighters,

From this link:
http://academicunderground.org/virus/pnlVirus3.html
you may conclude that there are schools for virus writers.
Wht do people do these things. Is there a form of education in it?

Well, if a person didn't know anything about how to write the code for a virus they could learn something from this article the gentleman writes. I personally don't know why the virus authors like doing it. I guess to them it's a challenge to beat the system, wreck havoc on multitudes of computers, and in their own twisted sense of thinking take pride in doing all of this.
Different strokes for different folks is what it is all about in life and the ones writing Malware have chosen their paths.

Some creates viruses for money, some creates it just for fun. The world is going crazy, that's it.

Sometimes its worthwhile for security experts to know how to make viruses so they can test security systems, or make advancements to them.  Having the knowledge is definitely beneficial.

INTRO.  These studies of computer viruses are based on The Giant Black Book of Computer
Viruses by Mark Ludwig.  These viruses are used for discussion and study.  They are not meant
to be used in any way other than academic.   It is a part of the Academic Underground student
organization to further understand and prevent computer viruses.  This is mainly an outline for
the panel discussions at the meeting.
