Polymorphic vius and MtE
« on: April 28, 2006, 03:58:34 PM »
Hi malware fighters,

We read to-day about the dangerous polymorphic viruses. Curious about the engine that creates them?, see: http://freespace.virgin.net/alpha.systems/mte.htm.
Another read here: http://vx.netlux.org/lib/ayt00.html & here:
http://crypto.csail.mit.edu/classes/6.857/papers/Nachenberg.pdf (link scanned with DrWeb: File size: 310.1K Nachenberg.pdf - OK)

The article breaks a lance for integrety checking as a first line of defense, and I would like to say this should be an integral part of your multi-layered security. Could you produce your original kernel hash if it was to be compromised? You'd better.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!
