Hi Dave, it works if the GUI is already open. Seems to be a dependency.

Hi Dave, it works if the GUI is already open. Seems to be a dependency.

Of course it does, that is what we are saying, but it doesn't if you go directly to the virus chest from the tray icon. You have to ask why Avast would change the dependency.

This is the same as the decision to open the UI when using the context menu 'Quick' scan another monumental pain in the backside. The tray icon context menu is meant to make access quicker to elements that are buried in the UI. Avast have promised/talked about improving the context menu of the tray icon, but nada, zilch, sod all, if anything it is more depreciated.

Sorry if my answer wasn't clear, I meant it also works if the GUI is open and you go directly to the virus chest from the tray icon.

It is a very rare that I have this monster of a UI open especially on this win10 laptop, if it was already open then I may just go through the UI.

No worries, this was rather a remark for the devs...

This bug is a carry over from the last beta even if all problems supposedly
got fixed.

It's sitting in the system tray and can't be closed without killing the process.

Just curious. Why so many beta's and no new stable release?  Too many bugs in the beta's?

That is the function of beta software, to find and fix bugs before you release a new version

The very reason I believe, fixes for previous bugs should be included in the change log for the betas, after all what is beta testing for. Some bugs from previous releases aren't being squashed and simply carried forward to the next beta.

Originally Avast intended to release weekly Beta's, but than last year they acquired AVG and the integration process had priority.
So now Beta testing is back as it meant to be.

I have just been notified of a new program update on this windows 10 laptop that I have never run a beta version.

Either this is a stuff up in offering a beta version or this beta has been released and no notification of that (new version) in the main forum (so far).
