I have installed Avast Antivirus Free version but the virus definitions are not being upgraded. It fails with an Unknown Error very soon after starting suggesting that it is not connecting to the upgrade server. The proxy settings are the same as my browser and other applications that use the internet. Does Avast have an issue with some DNS servers, maybe an exclusion list or only from preferred servers? Any ideas would be much appreciated as I would like to use Avast.
