All right guys, the update is now officially released, so you can use usual methods (either download from our website, or invoking program update from within the program) to get it.

The version number is 4.7.826.

Thanks
Vlk

Hi guys,

in a couple of days (maybe even tomorrow), we'll be releasing a new update of avast home/pro that will solve the problems discussed on this forum during the last week.

Anyone who's having these problems is kindly asked to try out this pre-release version (that is more or less the same as the one that will be released officially).

How to install it:

Any comments are welcome.

Thanks

Good. Program Settings... (and avast! Logs) now work fine.
Web Shield also doesn't generate those errors (in logs) anymore. Looks ok so far.

stmars, so, it behaves about the same as the previous version?
Also, could you please check if the "avast antivirus" service is started? Or if it's not, if it can be started manually?

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.

Thanks
Vlk

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
Start Menu > Administrative Tools > Services
or
Start Menu > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
or just run
C:\windows\system32\services.msc /s

And can i reinstalled an other setupeng.exe on top of what I have installed ?
Yes, you can. It will repair/update your installed version.

Nice!
But avast! is in my Program Files directory now, and I don't want to reboot only to reinstall it in its previous directory ;D
Maybe when I'll be less lazy 8)

antivirus is not a simple application... you MUST reboot after installation, otherwise, for sure you'll get trouble  ;)
