Avast Firewall Blocking Server 2016 RemoteApp Connections
« on: September 07, 2017, 02:36:18 PM »
We're a school that moved our student information system offsite to be hosted by the company back in the spring. At that time, we used standard RDP connections to access the main program and everything worked as expected. The company recently did a major overhaul of their datacenter and migrated everyone over to MS Server 2016 RemoteApps for connecting (they provided the file to run). During that time, we also upgraded from the former free EDU / Business Cloud to premium endpoint security, which now gives us the firewall component.

After both upgrades were complete, I've been unable to run the RemoteApp and establish a connection while the Avast firewall component is turned on. In the cloud settings, I have RDP allowed (which is working for internal things, such as accessing servers), but I can't find any settings specific to RemoteApp connections. I'm not that familiar with these, Do they run through different ports than standard RDP? How can I configure the Avast firewall to allow these outbound connections?

Thanks in advance!

I can't answer your question, but you have posted in the Business Cloud subforum and you mentioned you moved to Premium Endpoint Security.

If you don't get the answer you need here, try https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=77.0 or https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=33.0 boards.

Good luck :)
