Anybody with this "package corrupted" problem... can you please post here the last part of <avast4>\setup\setup.log? (right after the problem occurred)
Igor, I have that problem. I haven't rebooted yet, but avast's program files folder is locked.

What exactly does it mean "locked"? That it cannot be removed? Well, there are programs running there (the previous version, present before the update), so it's not surprising.

Or, you mean that you cannot even enter the avast! installation folder, e.g. in Windows Explorer, and read its files?

OK, check the security on the folder (Properties / Security tab)... what are the permissions?

In Windows Explorer; it says "Access denied"
I can't open it / erase it.
I can't enter the folder
When i reboot in safe mode, it says that there is no proprietary for the folder  ???
So i appropriate to myself and then i can enter it.

The Services of Avast are all NOT running

hey greenhatch, you're not the only one.

when i did a manual update, it downloaded the update, it showed the package was corrupt and i had to reboot.
now there's no avast. it won't reload, not even older versions. it's corrupted other apps.

I have the same Problem. I can not start Avast after update. And i can not uninstall it. It is looked.

Ciao Jörg ;-)

Oops, that's certainly not correct.
So, you simply invoked the program update from the tray icon and this was the result? What user were you logged on as when you started the update?

I'm not the only user of this PC, but I believe my acount has administrative rights, I mean, I never had this problem before, nor with avast or any other program!

where can i get a copy of the previous version (4.7.817)?

Spyros, heinblöd: can you please add yourself some rights for the avast folder and upload the setup.log from there to ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming (under some random name)?
Thanks.
