OK, another question: what operating systems do you use?
Or more precisely, is everybody having the problem with inaccessible avast! installation folder using Windows 2000?

Please check security settings Program Files folder, does it contain Adminstrators group or Everyone?

An updated version will be out in about 15 minutes. However, I'm afraid you'll need to uninstall the corrupted install first. We'll give you a tool to do that (most likely, the uninstaller built into the program won't work because of the same reason).

I apologize for the inconvenience. :-[

Thanks
Vlk

Dose that mean even if you have no problems with 4.7.826 do u still have to update and use the tool that Vlk is talking about or just install it over 4.7.826  Thank you

No, if you have no problems, there's certainly no need to uninstall.

Those of you having the problem - can you please check the security settings of Program Files folder (5 posts above this one)? Thanks.

Thanks igor in answering the question but I am still wondering do we still have to install the new update over the one that I have now 4.7.826 over that one if we are not haveing any problems.  Let say it is 4.7.828 do we install it over 4.7.826 if we aren't having any problems.  Sorry in being so dumb on it.  Thanks
I use windows 2000 and it was fully updated

No, you don't have to, it won't bring anything new (but on the other hand, there's probably no reason to actively avoid it - if you have automatic updates set, for example).

But it will eventually bug you about a "...new version available on the internet".

The update will be like 10KB long, and won't require a reboot anyway. So not really a big deal.

I hope the un-installation tool will be out soon. I am completely unprotected now.
And something interesting: After rebooting, avast's folder is again locked and I had to give again rights for "Everyone" in order to view its contents.  :(
