offline install fails
« on: September 14, 2017, 09:46:22 PM »
hello,
i'm trying to install avast free in an offline PC with Windows XP SP3 using: avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe  using the latest OFFLINE installer 17.6.3625.0, however the installation fails apparently because there is not an internet connection (Fatalinstcore[1468,1520]The installation failed with error 41227 (0x0000A10B) [Downloader system error]. Performing uninstall...).

So how can I install avast in an offline PC?
is there a commandline parameter to avoid downloading from internet?
The old version was uninstalled and i run avastclear.exe to make sure evrything was uninstalled

here is the log (had to trim it to stay in < 20000 characters...):

Please (re)search before posting.
As has been explained many times already, 42227 is a DNS problem.
Change your DNS to the one from Google and everything should work.

And with Windows XP/Vista, you need to be online or it will not work as offline is not supported anymore.

Offline installation is officially no longer supported on Vista and XP because new CEF (only one bundled in offline installer because of size) is not supported there and the online installer will download the correct CEF version.

hello,
i actually did a search before posting, but the DNS "solution" does not apply to my case because the PC is actually off-line (no internet available, the only connection with the outside is a USB port for a pendrive)
Is it possible to download an older offline installer with the correct CEF? do you know which is the last version that installs offline for XP? is there a way to get it from avast support?
Once installed i plan to update via the vpsupd files.

avast doesn't provide older versions.

Yes, V17.3 (and all below) should work.
DJBone provided a link a while ago, hope it still works. -> https://forum.avast.com/index.php?msg=1402531

As the system has usb, hookup a usb wifi adapter or Ethernet card and connect to the Internet.
