Those tests are meaningless to about all users.
All they do is testing detection against a bunch of samples they have.
They do not test the behavior shield and such.

As it say ... Real world protection test    ;)

======================================================================================================================
This section contains full product long-term dynamic test reports. These tests evaluate the suites “real-world” protection capabilities with default settings (incl. on-execution protection features). It is our aim to do these tests rigorously. Due to that, these tests are time and resource expensive, so only products chosen for the yearly main test-series are included. Results are released monthly, together with two overview reports (July and December).

So it is not a 5min youtube test

So, when Avast! scores 100%

Good job..!! 8)

When Avast! scores 99%

Those tests are meaningless to about all users.

In fact Microsoft did better  than Avast!, with 98.7% + 1.3% user dependent, so 100%!!!

Eddy, you're probably wrong. They test the standard settings and Behavior Shield is there. These tests have a lot of meaning.
Real-World test is NOT a sample test only.

AV-C real world tests are far from useless. They show how AV's are trending over time. It's not a coincidence that some are convincingly performing on an excellent level and some are fluctuating up and down all the time. Its' why I said I want to see the trend of avast! when it scored 100%. And it's just not up there yet. Some others are however. Just look through months or look at the whole year averages. One test may be flawed, 5 are a trend, 10 are a fact.

Not proud of the August results (4 misses) but otherwise, I would agree that trending is important...  And I hope you'd agree Avast has been trending very well this year so far.

Thanks

I'm not confident in saying that just yet. Some others consistently have 100% month after month. I well know this doesn't mean it detects all malware then, but it does in that particular test with given samples.

Two 100% are a good start, but if you can stay at least at 99,7% or 99,8%, that's already very good for me. The 99% dead on, not so much...

I haven't been infected with malware for years and am not a prime candidate to run across zero-day malware. I only find malware when I seek it. 99% or 100% in these tests makes no difference to me. Just because a developer receives 100% in a test doesn't mean 100% protection in every day life.

As long as my backup plan is bulletproof, I don't have much concern.
