Discontinued Avast Backup - what happnes now with files
« on: September 19, 2017, 05:42:08 PM »
Hi,

I got question for Avast devs.
I got a e mail regarding deleting all my files from Avast and Google drive, after 19.10, do i really need to download all from Google Drive just because you killed so good piece of software ?
I cant see the point for deleting all from Google Drive, so i need clarification : Does my files stay safe on Google Drive or not ?

Once again i must say that im sad you discontinued Avast Backup, without providing good alternative from Avast...

Please provide a solution before time for restore expires

Tnx

No, you don't have to download them.
Only if you don't want to loose them.

Honestly data are located on my personal Google drive. Why you are going to delete them without my approval? I would agree with this if they are located on your server but this is my Google drive. Isn't it?

That certainly does seem odd. Perhaps we agreed to it when we linked the google and avast accounts.

I decided to be safe and download everything from my google account but there was one file google wouldn't let me download, saying the file requested contained a virus. The file in question? avast! Mobile Backup App Files/com.avast.android.mobilesecurity_7898.apk  ;D

Maybe unlinking will cancel deleting, will try, since app is definitive discontinued, i do not have access to normal network and will spend all my mobile internet if i download now

Hello,
When copied a CSV file with contacts on Google Drive, only contact names without phone numbers were saved.
please tell me how to copy phone numbers?

If the list doesn't contain the phone numbers, you can't get them.
Open the file directly band see what data it has in it.

i did some research and first i disconnected accout from Backup app, then i copied all data from Avast Account site (precaution) and disconnected Backup from my.avast.com site, in that case only files from my.avast.com could be deleted, but Google stuff is safe :)
I did just for precaution downloaded some essentials i dont want to lose, also copy/move in other folder on Google Drive is good idea

I hope this helps anyone who user Avast Backup but dont want to lose files
:)
