About PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program)
« on: September 20, 2017, 08:04:30 AM »
Hi Avast Forum Team

I just wanna ask about PUP options, options in a sense that there are many tick-able options in avast itself, it can be seen on general section in settings and it can also be seen in components section, in file shield, web shield and etc. I just wanna ask these questions: Where is the best option to tick the PUP? My last question is for example you scan a newly downloaded program or installer, if you didn't tick any PUP option on avast, can you be infected by a PUP? Thanks in Advance Avast Forum team  ;D

as the name say Possible Unwanted Program, PUP is not a infection.
For some it is wanted, for others unwanted

have you turned on PUP detection?

No security program have 100% detection or zero false positives
You may clear your browsers for crap with AdwCleaner  https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

Also run a scan with Malwarebytes Antimalware and remove any crap it find
