When running a Full System Scan using Avast Security on my Mac the same 7 files show up as infected at each scan. Definitions are up to date. I delete them from Virus Chest and they show up again at the next scan. The same process repeats over and over.

I have tried to even delete them from the actual file location. It is a restricted folder and cannot be deleted.

I have attached 3 screen grabs showing the reports page, the list of files and the virus chest. I cannot get rid of these 7 files in order to get a clean scan.

Any suggestions?

@LBR34

Have you used another Antivirus "Webroot" in the past? It appears the files are in "Webroot's" quarantine.

I know thats what those files are. But I cannot remove them. Before I downloaded Avast I used Webroot and had gotten some Malware that wouldn't come off. I disabled it and downloaded Avast and cannot get those 7 quarantined files to delete. If I navigate to that folder, it cannot be deleted. It is marked as restricted.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply.

I suggest you contact Webroot support on how to remove all files from the previous installed program

Have you uninstalled webroot or just disabled?

Never install more then one AV or you will get conflicts

Webroot removal tool:
http://download.webroot.com/CleanWDF.exe
1. That file is for Webroot firewall removal (cleanWDF = Webroot Desktop Firewall)

2. It is for windows OS ... this is the Mac forum section   ;)

I think I know what happened. Someone (newbie with code for a name and possibly other suspect issues) reported Pondus's post, or other nonsense, they must have been subsequently banned/deleted (don't know by whom).

It is likely that you got the report notification email rather than a new post/activity on the topic notification.
