Cannot add or change my email address

I cannot add or change my email address, when I try to add another address I get an error message saying that it contains errors & also "This email is already in use."
How can I do this as my old address will soon be withdrawn by my ISP?

never done it, but this may work  >>  my.avast.com
at top right beside the cog wheel, click your ID name, then manage mail
