^,

Not that I would use IE other than a slave to MS update, I have a question...

Would a person assume that the new IE7 Beta would not have the same flaws?

I read the article, and scanned the links, but didn't see a comment by the authors.

Nice Avatar.

Hello Neal63,

This shows once more that IE can be declared to be software that is "inherently" insecure. I only use IE when there is no other way around it (ActiveX).
Some humourous remark I read the other day:
"What are the three limitless things in life? One that is the Universe, two that is the stupidity of certain people, three that is the amount of holes in M$ software".

FireFox is full of holes too ... if You want be secure use Opera ...

anyway these "who got more holes" wars are getting old and boring ...

from one point of view is MS W2k/W3k server more secure than Linux servers

from another that's absurd bs ... just depends who do the analysis and how :)

^^,

To carry on the same train of thought, Opera's safe at this point, only because a grand total of about 4 people use it.

My earlier post was tongue-in-cheek, in case nobody got the joke. Though people might assume so, IE7 will be a mess too, as will Vista. (For you people not in the U.S., the first counterfeits to our new $100 bill, even with all of the security stuff built in, showed up on the market within 10 minutes after the new bill's release.)

No matter what you use, I guess you just have to keep fighting, and don't let the b*****ds get you down...

Edit: Oh well, this was a pointless post, reiterating a blinding flash of the obvious. I quit. See ya.

Hi neal63,

Well thinking about it, it is quite a nice avatar, this one, actually. Your avatar buiding qualities are steadily improving. Not bad at all, not bad at all  ;),

That's hardly fair! Firefox may be like a rubber dingy with a fair few patches, but Opera has one or two itself- at least they are both watertight and you don't have to keep plugging hole with a finger as water leaks in through a new hole every time you set to sea!

I took two aspirins, and drank a cold beer. I feel much better now. Thanks.

The last vulneralbility for Firefox SA19802 was initially posted (4-25-06) as Low and now that the Firefox v1.5.0.3 patch is out (5-3-06) it was changed to Highly Critical. Interesting. ???

Their is no mention if this new IE vulnerability effects IE 7 Beta 2. All the last highly critical vulnerabilities did not affect IE 7.

And the assertion that the amount of users directly relates to the number of vulnerabilities is flawed because by that logic if Firefox had IE's market share it would have over 750 vulnerabilities by now far surpassing what IE aquired in five years.

It certainly doesn't "directly" affect it, but you cannot deny that it indeed plays a very large role.
