I currently have Avast Free version 17.6.2310 installed on my Windows 10 Pro 64-bit PC. Installing this new version 17.7.2314 produces the following error:

If I uninstall Avast Free version 17.6.2310 and try to install this new version 17.7.2314, I get the same error. I am able to install Avast Free version 17.6.2310 again, no problem.

Please advise?

OK. I got no help/answer, so I investigated further.

This is what I find: If I run the 17.7.2314 avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe from my C: drive, it works fine, but if I run it from my F: drive, I get the error.

Can anyone explain this behaviour?

http://support.avast.com/support/tickets/new

I am not able to submit a support ticket for Avast Free Edition.

In the past I was able to submit support tickets, but nowadays, I only get 2 options, Search for the answer in our Knowledge Base OR the Avast Forum, neither of which is able to supply an answer.

hello. i had to register cause 2 things bothering me. first of all i am using avast antivirus since 2006 and since i repair computers and had installed systems on over 500 computers. on every one of that i install and recommend customers AVAST software. but starting from the version 12.3.2280 you guys are the mess.
second thing is that this last version doesn't work on 10 computers from my customers with clean windows install and first time avast install. every time i install this version it starts normally and second time i try to start screen shows like it was just installed and UI blinks and restarts. please fix your software cause i love you.

Sorry to report it CRASHED my Windows 10.  I'm on Win10 Insider Fast v17035.

I've created a separate thread to discuss the matter further :)

Maybe Avast is a bit slow with updating this information ???

I too received the prompt to update avast (via automatic notification) and this results in updating to build 17.8.3705.
