Got update online - lost providers
« on: May 02, 2006, 09:20:09 PM »
Got the 4.7 home update today over the net as a result of an advisement from Avast it was available. I have now only two providers available.  Standard and Network. Where did the others go?

cheers

Go to control panel - add remove programmes click on avast and select change that should enable you to instal the rest of the providers

They should be there  ::)
Follow essexboy, by Control Panel to be sure. Anyway, if you left click the 'a' blue icon, choose to show details, will them be listed there?

Which is your Windows? 98, Me, XP?
Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Had to download 4.7 Home and reinstall to recover. Control panel suggestions (Essexboy and Tech) did not work, thanks for the suggestions though.

Tech - they were not listed via a click on the Icon. Only Standard and Network were there.   Using XP Pro

By the way many thanks to Avast for providing this Home product. It is rare these days to be impressed with a Company/Product, you are impressive.

A quick question did you go for standard instal or customised ? As that is where you can lose the other providers if not careful.. Yep I luv it too

Sorry to say I do not remember for sure but I would usually do "standard". If the "over the wire" update was set for custom as the default I may have gone that route

Hi Khalid...

If I'm understanding you correctly, you didn't receive the code for the Home (free) edition?

Normally, license keys are e-mailed to you pretty quickly. Try going to the registration page again and resubmitting your request. Make sure you give Alwil your exact e-mail address.

Let us know if this didn't solve or wasn't the problem :)

Best Regards...
