Hey,

So I am having some trouble with my Avast antivirus (free).

First, I log on and it says I'm not protected. (after a little research i discovered it may still be working and this may be some kind of bug, not a virus and my systems failing). I have scanned and uninstalled everything I can. So I uninstall Avast and after like 30-40 minutes I choose repair. It repairs itself, updates successfully but does not run properly (smoothly shall I say, as in the icons don't display properly). The problem is every time i restart my computer the same thing happens! It says I am unprotected, that my antivirus are turned off and everything. The weird this is is affects everything else. until i repair avast I cannot open Malware bytes and some other programs, nothing even pops open when I click to star-up, I cannot download anything from google or anything! Yesterday I managed to select my computer to do a boot scan and it worked so Avast must be working to some degree.

I am now trying to uninstall Avast using AvastClear and nothing is happening! For the past hour and a half just nothing. Then i get a message 'this program is still running, please try this later'. I just want to uninstall it now and try and clean install but it wont even uninstall!  So can someone tell me what the heck is happening? I plan to buy the VPN and such but not whilst this is all going down.

Any help will be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks

Maybe you need to remove Malwarebytes.
Then install Avast then re-install Malwarebytes and then set up the exclusions.

Hibob3160

When I set them up I managed to get them both working side by side perfectly without one affecting the other. Even after I manage to repair avast they both work perfectly fine. After I updated Windows this probem with Avast occured. I am not very computer efficient, so can you explain to me why I need to unistall Malwarebytes and do all I have been doing already?

Still confused avast user.

Looks like this is an Avast problem which has already been addressed in the current beta
and will be fixed in the next version release.
Beta testing isn't really designed for those that aren't computer savvy.
I'd suggest for right now you wait till the next version is released to see if that fixes your problem.
(Remember, you still have protection right now via Defender and Malwarebytes with Avast in the background.)

I didn't say you are using the beta version. I stated that the problem had already been addressed in the beta version. :)
