avast becomes fat joke
« on: October 13, 2017, 08:39:15 PM »
I have seriously  started looking for different AV, even thou I have still over 500 days of subscription on 5 of my systems. Frankly I don't have many if any problems and avast works good on all my systems, in fact last years I was considering on getting business licenses for my wife's office (25 workstations) but that has changed since then and this time I have made up my mind  >:(

Being pro user for a very long time I have watched avast keep on getting fatter and fatter of this bloatware and unlike other anti-virus installers  are  between 30-100mb MAX avast's exe is almost 300mb.

Yes! I have a choice of choosing what to install, but where is the clean GUI that I remember years ago, that was one of the reason I have chosen to stick with avast for that long, lets admit, the malware detection is far from superior and sometime even works against you.

What you do in some respect with avast  has nothing to do with anti malware protection, times moving forward and I understand more sophisticated bad code is developed to intrude systems protection but e.g. Driver Updater!!! what on earth is that, just purely dumb idea that will cause many to drop your software like a bad habit.

Why not making avast Pro users GUI clean and taking the darn unnecessary crapware of the GUI and maybe make it available for separate download and once someone decide to get it and if that is the choice than integrate into GUI once is installed.

I hate I latterly hate this freaking GUI clattered by garbage, sorry for being harsh but I just had enough of avast being greedy because that's all it is  :(

After more than 20 years I will not hesitate to switch to something else once i test my options, even thou some might think nothing is as good as avast, but...is avast that really good I believe that  it's more of a psychological mind set to many long time users, it's hard to switch but sometimes it's the healthy thing  to do.

It has been my experience that the community has the option of providing feedback on what they like and what they don't like. This typically comes from using the Beta program, but you can also do it as a normal user. You are more than welcome to provide specific information about the GUI's pros and cons, but this doesn't mean you will get your wish. A software provider can not cater to everyone, that's just a reality. I'm not sure threatening to move to another AV provider is the answer to trying to get what you want.

Avast! Antivirus is currently offering more and more to its users, as other AV companies are and have been doing for years. Avast! Driver Updater scans your computer for outdated drivers, and Windows Updates and updates according to what is outdated vs current. I myself just subscribed to the Driver Updater, as I'd rather have it from a reputable company vs free programs or even paid ones from companies I have never heard of. I used this recently and I think it's working great, and I think is a good investment.

I think the GUI is a small thing when you're really wanting protection. I can't speak for anyone but, I didn't choose Avast! because of its many AV looks over the years. I chose Avast! because of how well it protects me from malicious programs and infections, and after all I still get that wonderful sound alerting me to a problem that many other AV's don't offer. I think you should re-consider leaving Avast! and losing the protection you have come to enjoy from Avast!

You are delusional if you think your feedback will mean anything to avast developers unless benefits them.
I've used a avast Pro sense their early avast development  close to maybe 25 years and there's more benefit to them then to customers.

Can you distinguish when someone's is threatening from  "My mind Is made up"

You obviously don't use your system for anything serious other than browsing here and there maybe play a game, let alone you have enough knowledge to know what just simple driver update installation can do the whole system, but again there are plenty of people out there they're happy with automated windows and drivers installation and then when something goes wrong they cry and complain about it.

@Vapor,
You are the one who is mistaken if you think Avast doesn't listen.
They may not act as quickly as we would like. They also don't act on some of the things we feel are important.
They do listen.

Just noticed the reduction in annoyance (New)
I have lost the protection one.
It always happens when there is an update to the version
