Today, Avast! Free Antivirus has changed right now because the scans tab has changed and a new tab called “Core Shields” appears, too. On the scans tabs, some of the scans, Quick Scan and Removable media scan has disappeared. I check it on my computer already. I dediced to create a custom scan called “Quick Scan” to make it faster from last time, but it goes really slow for today.

Just naming it "Quick Scan" doesn't mean the scan is fast, that depends on the scan set-up. ;)

Wait a second, 2318 build now has separate Core Shields menu already? Wasn't this only in 2320 BETA ? That's weird...

Looks like they independently updated the interface ahead of the finalized BETA...

yeah that's what I thought when I first saw it, a few days ago,  though thankfully I don't run much on demand scans,  on Mom's PC did try to run one, and felt a little slower than previously, but maybe nothing, not sure on that part lol.

Version 17.8.2318 blocks Road Angel Gem updater
« Reply #141 on: December 14, 2017, 03:55:08 PM »
Ever since Avast upgraded to 17.8.2318 I've been unable to update my road speed camera warning device, Road Angel Gem.

Their updater is unable to connect to their servers. I've asked their Tech Support for port numbers and URL but they are so non-technical they don't even understand the question! - so can anyone here suggest how I can find out what Avast is now doing to stop the updater working.

I know it's Avast causing the problem as when I uninstall Avast  the updater works - yes I did re-install Avast!!!

This is new. Please see attached.

It has been mentioned in this and some other topics, so it would appear that some are getting UI updates but others aren't, even when they have the same version number.  No UI changes on my XP or win10 systems with the same 17.8.2318 version.  Same UI as in Patrick2s image in Reply #141.

2 of my 3 Win7 Pro laptops have received the UI change, while this one hasn't.  All are running AIS 17.8.2318.  I don't have a clue what could cause the difference.

My Private Internet Access will not connect after this upgrade.  This was never a problem until this went out.

Check your firewall settings.
Without further information that's all I can offer.
